Control Panel 2.11 Launch

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

This release might be a little light, but we promise to have many more exciting features next week.

In this launch, our development team fixed a bug with VOD password changes that occurred with our first generation media servers. They have also worked on, and rolled out a new beta feature available to a few select Enterprise CDN clients only, that gives them access to an Asset Manager for their Push Zones. If after the beta testing clears QA, this feature will be rolled out to all Push Zones in a future release.

On the horizon, we expect to have our Asia PoP integrated into all of our systems, as well as the introduction of Full Zones. More information about these new features will come.

If you have a feature you would like to see included in a future release, email us at requests@netdna.com, or if you have a bug to report, email bug@netdna.com

Regards

Control Panel 2.1 Launch

Monday, November 22nd, 2010
This launch brings some new features and bug fixes that have been identified by our Quality Assurance Team as well as those submitted to us by our customers.

NEW FEATURES:

Push Zone Debugger:

Like our Pull Zone debugger you will now be able to check a file's status on each of our Push Zone storage containers as well as see a header. This will help determine if a file has been properly synced to that edge location.

New API Call for "Remaining Bandwidth":

account.getBandwidth has been added to our API Documentation at wiki.netdna.com/Glossary/API_Documentation. This call will now allow you to retrieve the remaining bandwidth in your account without having to log into your control panel.

BUG FIXES:

  • Update button on advanced pull zone options will no longer time-out in some browsers.
  • Video Embed code will now work in Internet Explorer Web browsers.
  • Hourly reports for bandwidth and hits now show a full 24 time period.
  • API Timezone for report.getTotalHits and getTotalTransfer updated on wiki.netdna.com.
  • Bandwidth totals for MTD transfer and today's transfer are now showing properly on /pull, /push, /vod and /live zone summary pages.
  • iPhone Streaming link updated in VOD Zone Asset Manager under "Other Players".
  • IP Test tool on Pull Zones should now issue a proper test.

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Asset Manager for VOD files has had a performance increase with optimized code and pagination.
  • Our Video Embed code now will take a customer’s secure token into consideration when generating the Website html.
  • Contact Us form inside the control panel now has a Support option added for technical or networking support.
  • Quick link to Joomla Integration wiki page now inside Pull Zone manage pages.
  • Customers can now click on a daily bandwidth row and see its hourly data.
We have many more new features in the works, look forward for SSL Automation, more Reporting, and more Video and Live Streaming features. We will also be pushing hard to add content to our support wiki and making it more navigable, brand specific information. Please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions. We look forward to hearing your feedback!

Control Panel 2.0.1 Released

Thursday, September 16th, 2010
In a continued effort to add features that our loyal customers have given us feedback on we have added some great functionality to our API related to our Live Zone service.  It is now possible to pull the same type of reporting that is featured in your CDN control  panel.   Through our XML-RPC API you can now pull a peak connections report on a daily or hourly level as well as a hourly viewer hours report.  Updated Live Zone API Documentation can be found at  http://wiki.netdna.com/Glossary/API_Documentation#Live_Zones This release also includes some improvements on the API in terms of validation error messages as well as an improved zone creation process inside the control panel. To use the new Live Zone API customers will need to connect to http://api.netdna.com/xmlrpc/livezone, validating with their API Userid and key.   Please note that due to security reasons special Live Zone access rights will need to be granted to those customers who need this functionality. To make this request please contact support@maxcdn.com To improve our error checking our development team has also added API validation to the following calls pullzone.create, pullzone.update, pushzone.create, pushzone.update, vodzone.create, vodzone.update, livezone.create, livezone.update Another minor update that was made was to improve the zone creation process inside the control panel.  Many customers gave us feedback that the process sort of fell off after they had submitted their information. To fix this we made it so that after zone creation in the control panel, a link is shown to manage the new zone instead of just giving a zone creation success message. We hope that this and our new Live Streaming Zone feature  helps, and we look forward to reading any bug, feedback or general email responses that our customers and potential customers send us.  As a nimble company we are always ready to create any new feature and take customer support very seriously and will listen to any feedback that we receive.

Version 2.0 of our CDN Control Panel released!

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
We know it has been awhile since our last control panel updates were released, but we wanted to make this one a good one and come out with some ground breaking industry features that will make the NetDNA experience a memorable one. As with all our new features each was requested by our customers, and each adds a new level of flexibility and personal account management control. New Control Panel Features: File Manager 1.0: As the number one most requested feature from our media streaming clients our development team has created a new file management system accessible on all VOD Zones under the Assets sub tab. The new File Manager will allow you to easily copy and paste simple streaming video embed code for each of your video files utilizing Flowplayer with some skin customization, or by clicking the Other Players tab you will be able to copy and paste the code necessary to work with any flash based video player. Note that customers will still need to upload thier videos through FTP and SFTP.

Live Zone Provisioning: As a commonly requested feature for our video streaming clients direct from our media server partner Wowza Media Systems, it is now possible to provision a Live streaming zone in real-time. After payment of the $99 one-time setup fee and $150 per month minimum viewer hours fee the zone will be 100% active and ready for use. Any viewer hour overages will be billed the following month on the zone creation anniversary date. Newly created Live Zones are compatible with any Flash based RTMP or RTSP media encoder including Adobe Media Encoder Live or Wirecast, both of which we highly recommend.

Enable/Disable Robots.txt: Customers can now use a new Pull Zone feature to enable and disable the creation of a robots.txt file that they can also customize through the Control Panel. This feature will help the content to be considered as original and not duplicate as it will not allow the search engines to crawl the cached content on our edge servers. Thus it reduces the risk of existing SEO rankings being affected. This feature can be found under the Manage section of the Pull Zones dashboard page under Advanced Settings.

Set Default Cache Time: Under the Advanced Settings tab of the Pull Zone management settings, customers can now set a custom static file cache time By default our system will set a default cache time of 24 hours (1 day) for the max amount of time a static file will remain on our edge servers before we attempt to re-cache the content from the origin server. The new control feature allows each zone to have independent settings allowing the default cache time to be set to 1 day, 7 days, 1 Month and 12 Months.

Override Cache-Control Header: Under the Advanced Settings tab of the Pull Zone management settings, customers can now set whether they would like us to override the default cache-control headers that are sent from their origin server. This new setting is an override on the browser level for the max amount of time to cache a static file. Options for Max-Age browser value include No Override (Default), 1 day, 7 days, 1 Month and 12 Months.

Control Panel Improvements: New Contact Us Form: Because we are very eager to hear what you think we have created a new contract us form that give you the option to submit an email ticket to one of four departments. Bugs will go direct to our development department, feedback will go direct to our management team, support and sales will go to their respective departments. We encourage all of our existing customers and potential new customers to contact us at anytime, beside the contract form for existing customer use, potential customers can contact us via email, live chat and telephone 24/7/365. Column Sorting: It is now possible to sort zone information and customer information without having to reload the control panel page. This small but mighty feature should allow for a more pleasurable user experience. If you have any questions or feedback of any kind please contact us!
