Control Panel 2.12.1 Launch

Friday, July 22nd, 2011
Today we present 2.12, and its successor, the superior 2.12.1. There have been plenty of questions about full sites as custom domains, and this launch addresses that with a spiffy FAQ. The API plays nice now, after a scolding, and no longer mouths off with NULL. We also had a little chat with Cache Inspector and listZones to clear the air.

Technical details below:

IMPROVEMENTS

  • Custom Domains Added FAQ for custom domains: We don´t allow full sites as custom domains, which means www or a url like http://example.com are not valid as custom domain
  • Improved Custom Domain error message

BUG FIXES

  • API Fixed an API issue that occurs when NULL values exist in return array: The PHP XML-RPC client does not allow NULL values. Our API does, as with this release, not return NULL values anymore.
  • listZones Fixed beginning 0 value & removed array wrapper for listZones functions: listZones function returns zones now in a proper array
  • Cache Inspector Fixed Cache Inspector validation error: A input validation error was fixed.

Control Panel 2.0.1 Released

Thursday, September 16th, 2010
In a continued effort to add features that our loyal customers have given us feedback on we have added some great functionality to our API related to our Live Zone service.  It is now possible to pull the same type of reporting that is featured in your CDN control  panel.   Through our XML-RPC API you can now pull a peak connections report on a daily or hourly level as well as a hourly viewer hours report.  Updated Live Zone API Documentation can be found at  http://wiki.netdna.com/Glossary/API_Documentation#Live_Zones This release also includes some improvements on the API in terms of validation error messages as well as an improved zone creation process inside the control panel. To use the new Live Zone API customers will need to connect to http://api.netdna.com/xmlrpc/livezone, validating with their API Userid and key.   Please note that due to security reasons special Live Zone access rights will need to be granted to those customers who need this functionality. To make this request please contact support@maxcdn.com To improve our error checking our development team has also added API validation to the following calls pullzone.create, pullzone.update, pushzone.create, pushzone.update, vodzone.create, vodzone.update, livezone.create, livezone.update Another minor update that was made was to improve the zone creation process inside the control panel.  Many customers gave us feedback that the process sort of fell off after they had submitted their information. To fix this we made it so that after zone creation in the control panel, a link is shown to manage the new zone instead of just giving a zone creation success message. We hope that this and our new Live Streaming Zone feature  helps, and we look forward to reading any bug, feedback or general email responses that our customers and potential customers send us.  As a nimble company we are always ready to create any new feature and take customer support very seriously and will listen to any feedback that we receive.
