Today we present 2.12, and its successor, the superior 2.12.1.

There have been plenty of questions about full sites as custom domains, and this launch addresses that with a spiffy FAQ.
The API plays nice now, after a scolding, and no longer mouths off with NULL.
We also had a little chat with Cache Inspector and listZones to clear the air.

Technical details below:

IMPROVEMENTS

Custom Domains
Added FAQ for custom domains: We don´t allow full sites as custom domains, which means www or a url like http://example.com are not valid as custom domain

Improved Custom Domain error message

BUG FIXES

API
Fixed an API issue that occurs when NULL values exist in return array: The PHP XML-RPC client does not allow NULL values. Our API does, as with this release, not return NULL values anymore.

listZones
Fixed beginning 0 value & removed array wrapper for listZones functions: listZones function returns zones now in a proper array

Cache Inspector
Fixed Cache Inspector validation error: A input validation error was fixed.

This release might be a little light, but we promise to have many more exciting features next week.

In this launch, our development team fixed a bug with VOD password changes that occurred with our first generation media servers. They have also worked on, and rolled out a new beta feature available to a few select Enterprise CDN clients only, that gives them access to an Asset Manager for their Push Zones. If after the beta testing clears QA, this feature will be rolled out to all Push Zones in a future release.

On the horizon, we expect to have our Asia PoP integrated into all of our systems, as well as the introduction of Full Zones. More information about these new features will come.

If you have a feature you would like to see included in a future release, email us at requests@netdna.com, or if you have a bug to report, email bug@netdna.com

We are back with a bang (not that we disappeared in the first place). Things were in the works behind the scenes for a few months, and today is the unveiling. Our engineers and developers got their hands dirty to keep your toolbox fresh and clean.

Control Panel 2.9 is flagshipped by a new dynamic content caching product (beta). Not to be overshadowed, features such as a sparkling network status page and improved Google analytics code were rolled out, and are a direct result of your feedback. You spoke your mind, and we listened.

For you out there wondering where release 2.8 is, the answer is simple. It was an internal update, and we decided you shouldn't be bothered with the fine print. After all, our job is to keep you moving...fast.

NEW FEATURES

FULL ZONE
This new product, currently in beta, will allow dynamic content caching. Contact sales@netdna.com for details.

NETWORK STATUS
Our solution to proactive monitoring and increasing transparency. The feature provides detailed live reporting of Edge clusters and API.

IMPROVEMENTS

GOOGLE ANALYTICS
has been optimized with the control panel by using faster code, reducing any drag that might have been felt in the past.

BUG FIXES

VOD ZONE
an error that occurred when creating a VOD zone with a custom domain on the Create Zone Form was fixed.

Hello everyone,

Your control panel just underwent changes. Release 2.7.0 focuses on modifications and bug fixes to improve security and accuracy. If you don't feel like you got improvements this time around, rest assured they are on their way (we don't stop!).

Let's dive right in.

MODIFICATIONS

Push / Pull Zones
will no longer show the Shared SSL Domain in the Custom Domains Settings.

Push / Pull Zones
for overall security, will no longer allow full sites (www.domain.com domain.com) to be added as Custom Domains. If needed, please contact support for a custom solution. We're here to help!

Pull Zones
will accurately reflect features allowed by the platform they proxy. If it's possible, it will do it!

On behalf of the entire MaxCDN team, have fun exploring and re-visit soon,

Hi everyone,

Believe it or not, we successfully released yet another version of the control panel, with 2.6.0 going live earlier today. What has the team come up with this time around, you might ask? Well...things to make life easier (and more fun), of course!

Luckily, you are in the right place for all your MaxCDN update needs.
Here is a short and sweet change log that will get you right up to speed:

NEW FEATURES

Shared SSL Certificates
Added the ability for Pull and Push Zones (currently, Pull Version 1.0 only) to have a shared SSL Certificate. At the moment, this is in Beta

IMPROVEMENTS

VOD Zones
To make things more intuitive, Custom Domain Settings have been moved to the "Settings" tab

Contact Form
Now added to all brands and control panels

BUG FIXES

HTTP Referer Protection
Fixed a bug where you could enter a referrer multiple times, which would cause an error on the server

Pagination
Fixed for reports

That's it for this week, but given our track record, you know updates are just along the way.

Enjoy,
Mike

We are pleased to announce that the latest release to our Control Panel, version 2.3, went live yesterday. The update for version 2.2 only contained internal changes, and therefore was not announced. Version 2.3 is a minor release containing a few notable improvements. The goal of this release is to lead up to a larger release taking place next week, so look for another update soon. The notable changes for this version are as follows.

Hi Everyone!

It's been a crazy December. We hope you're all excited for the Holidays and New Year. You can bet we are!

There are a couple of service updates with the MaxCDN/NetDNA control panel we wanted to quickly address:

1) PHP/Zend Errors

Starting Sunday @ around 4:30PM PST, some PHP/Zend Errors were showing for some users in the control panel randomly. It took us a while to track down the cause - we had recently migrated to AmazonRDS and the instance was rebooting from mySQL crashing around once an hour. We tracked it down to a coding error with how we were storing sessions for our API and it should be running great now and scale very gracefully.

2) Re-Indexing Popular Files Report

Based on feedback, we've decided to re-index the Popular Files report. We originally didn't design this well to accommodate date range searching for the tens of billions of requests per month. Rest assured we're on top of it and the Popular Files report will return to the control panel shortly. We're also working on a release of our control panel with lots of cool reports and widgets based on what we here from you!

3) New iterations of Pull Zones 2.0, Live Streaming 2.0 and Push Zones 2.0

We've quietly been working on new iterations of what we call "CORE" internally. CORE is the software we've built to service Pull Zones, Live Streaming and Push Zones on our network. If you'd like to migrate to version 2.0 of our zone, feel free to reach out to me and we'll get you on the beta list.

Pull Zones 2.0 (Beta - Available now):

HTTP 1.1 Compliant on the origin/backend -uses keep-alive and honors Gzip headers. (We've always been HTTP 1.1 compliant to the browser)

Honoring DNS lookups for origins - we use a super fast DNS resolver every 5 minutes to make switching your origin host pain free (no more perminant IP caching). It also works great with Amazon S3's DNS redundancy.

New Caching Algorithm - Not all content is equal - so we now use a caching algorithm that's based on "hot" content rather than just space. It's more efficient in achieving high cache hit percentages and keeping the hottest content in all the right places.

Bigger SSD arrays- Pull zones are already 100% SSD based. We've recently tweaked a high performance, low power super cluster which allows us to be ridiculously efficient on bandwidth per server and bandwidth per watt of datacenter power. We have an even more high I/O iteration of the server platform going into production in January. What does this mean for you? We're efficient and can provide value and speed for you.

New Acceleration Stack - we're going to be making a public announcement of a partnership in the coming weeks, and it gives us access to a great stack for accelerating TCP Slowstart and TCP Congestion. What this does is extend the reach and effectiveness of our PoPs. Anything over 10ms in latency will see ~20% improvement and the larger the latency and the bigger the file, the more improvement (upto ~200%). The new stack also provides very fast and consistent delivery to highly latent environments like mobile devices, WiFi and even airplanes wireless.

Push Zones 2.0 (Beta)

Faster Replication - We've come up with faster replication techniques so you don't have to wait.

New Acceleration Stack - (See the above description from Pull Zones)

Dedicated Storage - we were previously using NFS with attached storage and have itterated on a new direct-in-server storage that's fast and efficient (and good on datacenter power!)

Live Zones 2.0 (Beta)

Universally Good Publishing

Stream Repeating

Less Jitter

We know you have lots of choices when choosing a CDN vendor and appreciate your business and trust!

From myself, the tech team, Ahmed, Alex, Billy, Bryan, Cheryll, David, Don, Eamonn, Stephen, our newest member Fred and the rest of the NetDNA/MaxCDN/HDDN family.

Happy Holidays!
