MaxCDN Offers Easy Transition for Stranded SimpleCDN Customers

Saturday, December 11th, 2010
Good evening everyone, I heard some surprising and disturbing news tonight. As we were leaving the office Friday evening, we got word that SimpleCDN announced, a direct competitor of ours, is having severe difficulties with their service provider(s). It appears that many of their customers are currently without service, or will potentially be without service in the next 24 to 48 hours. This is, of course, devastating news for SimpleCDN customer as well as SimpleCDN as a company. As long-time Internet marketers we thrive on and encourage healthy competition and do not at all enjoy seeing a fellow CDN Provider go down in flames the way SimpleCDN is at this point. We have offered help and assistance to them and hope they will find a way to resolve these issues. To immediately help SimpleCDN customers in any way we can, effective immediately we are offering SimpleCDN customers promotional pricing for transferring their sites to MaxCDN to prevent potentially devastating downtime. SimpleCDN customers who want to avoid service interruption to their website(s) should enter the coupon code "simplecdn" when they checkout at MaxCDN to receive the following special pricing:

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 25, 2010 —

MaxCDN, a premier Content Delivery Network (CDN) provider based in Los Angeles, announces today the integration of a groundbreaking Joomla CDN plug-in for the leading content management system Joomla. A simple three-step process that takes less than 5 minutes to finish, the plug-in allows for easily integrating any current Joomla Website with MaxCDN’s services. The result is a notable boost in performance for any given Website, further building on the quick Internet searches and fast downloading experience that MaxCDN offers. The first of it’s kind in the CDN field, the plug-in project represents MaxCDN’s expanding ability to be the field’s leading CDN provider.

“We couldn’t be happier about the project and continued partnership with NoNumber, and look forward to working closely with Peter in the future, as we continue to do everything possible to be the best CDN provider.” MaxCDNs VP of Marketing David Henzel said. “While MaxCDN has always been the global leader in small static file acceleration on the Web, the new plug-in development project only helps expand our ability to make implementation easier for those customers who might not be as knowledgeable with Website development.

In the last year, MaxCDN approached NoNumbers Van Westen to create this plug-in, based on his notoriety in the Joomla community and his reputation as an innovative and forward-thinking Web developer. The creator of the two highest-rated extensions for Joomla, Van Westen was excited to embark on this cutting-edge creation. The relationship between Van Westen and MaxCDN is reflective, first and foremost, of MaxCDN’s commitment to its clients. A willingness to take on original ideas, while always prioritizing client’s ease of use, MaxCDN continues to provide the industry’s most competitive and cutting-edge services. Their latest project with the development of a Joomla plug-in is a testament to that, especially with similarly progressive future projects on the way as the MaxCDN-Joomla partnership moves into the future.

Peter adds: “It is a real honor to be able to work with and for one of the worlds leading CDN providers. Together we have managed to create a smooth and easy to use integration between MaxCDN’s services and Joomla.”

HostGator adds a global whitelist for MaxCDN IPs on their firewalls.

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010
Hello everyone, Some of our clients who host their websites with HostGator have been experiencing intermittent “502 Bad Gateway” errors with their Pull Zones. Investigating the issue, it appeared that some of HostGator servers’ firewalls have been temporarily blocking MaxCDN due to the traffic used to pull data off the clients’ origin servers in order to create the CDN cache. Our system engineer, Billy Vierra, contacted David Collins (HostGator CTO) about that, and David Collis was very cooperative, he made sure all our IP allocations are globally whitelisted so this problem would never occur again, thanks to him. For all our clients who use HostGator hosting, rest assured you shall never have to worry about “502 Bad Gateway” errors ever again.
